{"id":1571,"date":"2020-04-18T16:23:08","date_gmt":"2020-04-18T16:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.briansutton.uk\/?p=1571"},"modified":"2020-04-19T09:05:58","modified_gmt":"2020-04-19T09:05:58","slug":"uk-coronavirus-modelling-match-to-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.briansutton.uk\/?p=1571","title":{"rendered":"UK Coronavirus Modelling &#8211; match to data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even having explored Prof. Alex Visscher&#8217;s published MatLab code for a week or two now, with UK data, even I am surprised at how well the model is matching up to published UK data so far (on April 18th 2020).<\/p>\r\n<p>I have reported my previous work a couple of times, once relating to the modelling equations, at <a title=\"Making a little progress with a Covid-19 model and real data\" href=\"https:\/\/www.briansutton.uk\/?p=1455\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">7 Compartment modelling, Alex Visscher<\/a>, and once on the nature of the models on this kind of work, and the r0 number in particular, at <a title=\"The SIR model and importance of the R0 Reproductive Number\" href=\"https:\/\/www.briansutton.uk\/?p=1436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SIR models and R0<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>I&#8217;ll just present the charts produced my my version of the model for now. If there is no pharmaceutical resolution, or only a partial one, these single phase infection models will need to develop, and, as we saw in my last post at <a title=\"Cambridge conversations 17th April 2020 \u2013 exit strategy?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.briansutton.uk\/?p=1536\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The potential cyclical future pandemic<\/a>, a cyclical repetition of a lockdown\/epidemic loop might look the most likely outcome for a while, until the vaccine point is resolved.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Meanwhile, this single phase model flattens out at a little over 39,000 deaths.
